What Are NeighborGood Events?

A NeighborGood Event is a Light & Cover gathering hosted right on your block. No venue, no registration, no cost. Neighbors come together for food, games, and conversation while learning practical, no-pressure ways to act on the concerns closest to home: homelessness, human trafficking, and community beautification. Each event pairs a welcoming atmosphere with real tools, like connecting with your Neighborhood Council, reporting issues through 311, and tracking your own advocacy with the Lightway app. There's also a hands-on action station, such as assembling care kits for neighbors in need. It's advocacy the way we believe it works best: self-directed, family-friendly, and starting exactly where you live. Because We Live Here.

NeighborGood on 110th

On Sunday, July 12, Light & Cover brought its first NeighborGood Event to the block of 110th Street and the block showed up! Neighbors of all generations gathered for refreshments, games, and conversation focused on the concerns closest to home: homelessness, human trafficking, and community beautification.

Organized by Derrionna Jones, Director of Community Engagement, founder, Tanacha Gaines shared three practical ways anyone can act: getting involved with the local Neighborhood Council, using 311 to report neighborhood issues, and tracking your own advocacy with the Lightway app. Attendees also assembled care kits — filled with water, snacks, and hygiene essentials — for neighbors experiencing homelessness, each with a "We Live Here" flyer connecting recipients to community resources.

The NeighborGood Event reflects what Light & Cover is about: self-directed advocacy with no pressure, just consistent impact. Want the next one on your block? Reach out us.
